Pre-loved fashion and luxury items
A military budget isn’t huge. If you’re a fashion lover such as myself; you probably also appreciate a good deal.
Shopping is therapeutic for me but I prefer thrifting over a mall any day. I can find designer labels at highly discounted prices.
When I shop at malls; I can get an outfit usually for $100 usd. Thrifting saves me money and I can get “more bang for my buck.”
I got annoyed going through thrift shops and purchasing items only to find stains or holes in them when I return home. I understand you can miss flaws and these are donated items...but I prefer not to deal with all that.
Thankfully there’s companies who understand my struggles. These companies only take items “sellable” in my opinion. They’re free of those nasty stains and are totally wearable.
Nothing against flawed items! Some people sell them easily. Some people can fix minor flaws as well.
These days; I choose to shop from certain online thrift stores that make the process of finding fashion easily. Check out these trendy and affordable online thrift and consignment shops.

Where to re-sell clothing online?
Are you searching for places to resell or consign clothing you no longer wear or need? These places often accept gently used clothing, accessories and more. All companies vary so be sure to check their rules and what they accept. Some accept handbags and home goods while others do not. I doubt someone can get "rich" doing things like this but some people do it for part-time income or even full-time.
Anytime I used these companies I averaged a few hundred dollars a month getting items at yard sales then re-selling it for extra money. the money helped a lot with gas money or extra cash to go out to eat with my friends. It is also time consuming doing it full-time so a great way to beat the blues during deployments. Plus; you are earning income!
Some people do make full-time income so keep that in mind. They put a lot of work into it by buying items super cheap then re-selling it. You do not have to do this as a business or much at all. You can just clean out your closet or go through what your children do not fit anymore. Instead of donating it to stores that will resell it at high costs and not really donate to charity...why not try selling the items first?
What does not sell for me after a long time; then I donate it. Some of these companies can donate items for you so that is a double-win. I used to immediately donate items thinking no one would want it. Often I am shocked at the items that sell super fast; it is usually something I never thought would sell.
There may be local stores in your area such as Uptown Cheapskate, Clothes Mentor, or Plato's Closet you can sell to for cash on the spot. You can have the option usually to trade in items for more store value credit. These stores tend to buy year-round but do not offer much for your items so keep that in mind. It is more for if you need cash on the spot or just do not care to make a lot from them.
It seems they are pickier on what they take as well. I have a family member who enjoys selling higher-end handbags to the local stores. Sometimes she makes hundreds of dollars each time she sells items at those type of stores. There are also stores like that for children; see if a Once Upon A Child location is close to you.

Near Tinker Air Force Base?
Tinker Air Force Base is located in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Midwest City has a library, grocery stores, gas stations, classes for children and all the normal things a city would have. Do not worry if you have never been; it is not a boring city compared to some areas I have lived as a military spouse.
Most likely you will be grateful to be here instead of Fort Sill which is in Lawton, Oklahoma. There is not nearly as much to do there as there in in the Oklahoma City metro area I feel. There are also more groups for moms in the Midwest City area.
Midwest City, Oklahoma is growing quite a bit over the past decade. There is plenty of places to eat, shop and public parks. Midwest City is also not too far from downtown Oklahoma City...approximately ten minutes from the Tinker Air Force Base. If you like franchises; there are plenty of those there as well.
Downtown Oklahoma City has plenty of dining and tourist attractions such as the Bricktown water taxi. Norman, Oklahoma is south of Midwest City and about a thirty-minute drive for many Midwest City residents. There is a mall there and it gets pretty fun around football season if you enjoy sports and tailgating.
Many Midwest City residents end up moving north towards Edmond although it is pricier to live in Edmond it seems. Edmond area is beautiful I think and has a lot of upscale places to check out such as boutiques and fine dining. I think the schools are better in Edmond or Deer Creek area as well.
If you choose end up living in Midwest City a few years; you may enjoy it a lot. Traffic is not as bad as some areas such as Dallas so you can get to Edmond, Oklahoma City, Moore, Norman or Mustang within thirty-minutes in most cases. When you need to get out the house; just go to a surrounding city.
There is Paseo Arts District, Chisholm Creek, Bricktown, Martin Nature Park, Outlet mall, Trader Joe's and Lake Hefner just in Oklahoma City area alone. I do not think it is a big deal at all to drive to those areas; even if you take back roads to avoid traffic.
The city is not too overwhelming and I think people in Oklahoma seem friendlier than other states I have lived in; so that is a plus. Everyone has a different opinion but you have to make the most of it. There is a YMCA in Midwest City with affordable rates. If you enjoy thrifting; check out some of the thrift shops.
If you enjoy faith-based organizations; there are plenty in the area. A restaurant to check out would be Pelican's and Chequers. Both have been around at least twenty years in the area. Pelican's is more seafood but has a great salad bar. Chequers seems to have great prices according to friends of mine.
Star Skate is a fun indoor skating rink your children may enjoy if you are a parent. Down the street is a Bingo Hall and shopping centers. The post office and library are next door to each other in Midwest City. Welcome to Midwest City and do not forget to explore the surrounding cities if you get too lonely or bored.
Oklahoma City nightlife is pretty fun at times. Some of the best bars to visit are Kat's Tavern, Friends of Friends and Good Times. If you enjoy good brunch; take a drive to Hatch or Kneighborhood Jam. Midwest City does have a movie theater and coffee shops if you need a good date idea.
